Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland

I recently talked with a client who just returned from Disneyland.  She had the opportunity to go to Trader Sam’s, the new dining (and drinking) venue at the Disneyland Hotel.

Trader Sam’s is like a combination of the Adventurer’s Club, Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise all mixed together.  It is a tiki bar with obnoxious bartenders, though in a good way.  She mentioned the Jungle Cruise because of the type of jokes you will hear at Trader Sam’s.  You know the witty repartee and puns.  There is a lot of outdoor seating in this bar, but not as much inside. Inside however, the place will make you feel like you are in Trader Sam’s home with all the artifacts he has gathered.  Be sure to check out the decor as you will find lots of puns, Disney references, etc.

The food was described as “Not bad”.  She had the Ahi Tuna, Kalua Pork Flatbread and Asian Spicy Wings.  She said the Ahi Tuna was like the one they had at Hooks Pointe and she liked it.

The best part about Trader Sam’s happened when you ordered one of their special drinks.  Each time this happened, a bartender rang a bed and something special would happen.  For instance, when the Shipwreck was ordered, a “real” shipwreck happened at the bar.  This was different for each of the special drinks, with either the reaction from your server or something happening at the bar.  Even the stools at the bar can be lowered at the push of a button, making you feel very “small”.  It looks like we’ll have to make this a stop the next time we go to Disneyland!
