New Disney Visa Offer for Walt Disney World?

This morning we read on DisneyDining.com that there is a new Disney Visa Card Holder offer for summer room discounts.  What surprised me about this was it said that it started today and Disney Visa offers typically have started on Thursdays or Mondays with the opposite day opening to the public.  Here’s what we found out.

There is no Disney Visa offer today.  The offer will start tomorrow with this opening to the public on Monday, March 17.  It looks like it will be a summer discount.

As usual, we will be on with Disney tomorrow to work on new reservations for our Disney Visa Cardholder clients and the public on Monday.

Put your request in today for your quote here!  If you are a Disney Visa Cardholder, note that on your request so we know to work on that quote tomorrow morning.

Disney World Ticket Pricing Increase

We heard of ticket pricing increases coming for Disney World last night and sure enough, they did. Ticket prices for one day at Magic Kingdom has gone up to $99 plus tax.  Ticket prices across the board increased with one exception (though it remains to be seen if this is an error or intentional).

According to ticket pricing on Disney Travel Agents site, pricing for Magic Your Way base tickets, including taxes are (10+/3-9):

  • 2 day – $200.22/$186.38
  • 3 day – $291.81/$271.58
  • 4 day – $313.11/$291.81
  • 5 day – $323.76/$302.46
  • 6 day – $334.41/$313.11
  • 7 day – $345.06/$323.76
  • 8 day – $355.71/$334.41
  • 9 day  – $366.36/$345.06
  • 10 day – $377.01/$355.71

Park hopper and Water Park Fun and More options increased to $63.90 each or $91.59 for both options.  The only exception to this is for 2 and 3 day tickets which are pricing at $52.19 for the park hopper option only.  If you add both options, it is still pricing at $91.59.  This very well could be an error on the site.

No expiration options are still available as well, but have gone up too.  Pricing includes taxes:

  • 2 day – $42.60
  • 3 day – $53.25
  • 4 day  – $106.50
  • 5 day – $170.40
  • 6 day – $223.65
  • 7 day – $266.25
  • 8 day – $287.55
  • 9 day – $314.18
  • 10 day – $362.10

The silver lining in this however, is that package pricing did not seem to increase, just separately purchased tickets.

Every year we see an increase in the ticket pricing at all the major theme parks.  When is it too much?

Walt Disney World Dining Cancellation Policy Update

We are hearing rumors that an updated cancellation policy will be coming to Walt Disney World on October 31, 2013.  For the last couple years, signature restaurants, restaurants that offer character meals and Fantasmic packages have had a cancellation penalty if reservations were cancelled within 24 hours or you simply did not show.  On October 31, 2013, we are hearing that this will expand to all table service reservations.

Any reservations made through Disney Dining (either by phone or online) will now require a credit card to hold the reservation.  If you do not show or cancel at least 24 hours in advance by contacting Disney Dining, going to Guest Relations, a restaurant podium or by calling 407-WDW-CNCL, you will be charged $10 per person to the credit card used to hold the reservation.

This is changing due to the number of guests who make multiple reservations and then no show or cancel.  Now more than ever it is important to arrive early for your reservation and if plans change, make sure you cancel.  The easiest way to do this is through My Disney Experience on your smartphone or other mobile device when you are at Disney World.

What do you think about this change?

Fun with My Magic +

We have just returned from a quick trip to Walt Disney World for a travel agent conference.  We all had an opportunity to try My Magic + during our trip and had a blast!

Testing continues for My Magic + including issuing Magic Bands to participants.  I wanted to give you some information about how the testing went for us.

When we were advised that we would be part of the test, we went to StartYourDisneyExperience.com, which guided us through the linking process.  We added our room reservation and tickets to My Disney Experience and then were given a link to customize our Magic Bands.

The Magic Bands were easy to customize.  My husband is William so I switched his name to Bill.  He really wanted gray so I got him that.  I ordered pink, the most popular color right now!  After confirming our shipping address, our bands were all set to be sent out.

I received a notice on the day they were to be delivered (I’m set up for My UPS Choice so they notified me the day prior).  Once we opened the box, we saw the great packaging from Disney.

MagicBand

Inside the box was instructions on how to make the band smaller.

MagicBand2

And finally, here were our bands!

MagicBand3

We proceeded to make our FastPass+ selections, which, after doing it a couple times, was a piece of cake!  You just have to think through what you want to do and keep in mind it is a step by step process.  We made sure our smartphones had the app and that it was updated.  Now we just had to wait for the trip!

While I am not a fan of scheduling my vacation this much, I do like the FastPass+ system more than I thought I would and I do like the Magic Bands.

When I was in Florida it was in the low 90s every day.  Never once was my band uncomfortable.  It didn’t dig in or hurt in anyway.  I had some bling on my band and I was surprised how tightly it fit in the holes.  Here’s a tip — when you get to the resort and check in, ask if they have any bling for your band.  Right now they are giving away a band that says 2013 and glows in the dark!

Only once did I have trouble with my band and that was opening up the door to my room.  Trying to get the right position for it to register wasn’t always easy and one time I gave up and used my Key to the World card.

I used my band for entry to my room, charging food and drinks, getting into the parks and FastPass+.  I did mention that I’m not a huge fan of scheduling my vacation and I’ll explain.  I don’t decide until usually the morning of which park I want to go to.  I’m afraid with FastPass+ that there will be limited times available when I do that.  Time will tell on that however.  Disney is also increasing the number of attractions with FastPass+ so that will help as well.  Let’s assume that there is still availability for nearly everything the morning I want to go to any park.  Here is why I love FastPass+.

Let’s say I want to sleep in because we closed down the Magic Kingdom last night, but I still want to ride Toy Story Mania that day.  With the current system, We have to get there pretty close to rope drop and hurry to Toy Story Mania with our tickets to get FastPass tickets.  If we wait too long in the morning before heading to Hollywood Studios, we may not ride Toy Story Mania until evening if at all, unless we want to wait in line for an hour or more.

With FastPass+, I can decide that we will ride Toy Story Mania right after lunch, say at 1:00 – 2:00, I don’t have to worry, I just get on the app and make my FastPass+ time.

The other great thing we found out was how easy it was to change FastPass+ times same day.  Some of our friends traveling with us changed their minds based on the weather in the morning and were able to change their times while on the bus to a new destination.

For the way I like to vacation, I have had a hard time embracing this change, but the more I play with it and saw how it worked in practice, I’m growing more and more fond of the changes.

I’m Dreaming of……… Zebra Domes

There’s been a flurry of planning lately in my home – several trips and several weddings taking place, all within the span of one year.

Of course, my brain can’t focus on the nearest one (my own wedding at the end of September!) but instead keeps jumping forward to next February and our stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House.  The atmosphere at AKL is one of my favorite Disney things – the smells, sounds, sights, and tastes stay with you and make you long for more.

MyMagic+ and FastPass+

We’ve been hearing a lot about the MyDisneyExperience and the MagicBands lately, with testing of the MyMagic+ at Walt Disney World.  Last week, we had a blog from our friend Tiffany who was able to test the system.  Today I have information about using MyDisneyExperience to set up your FastPass+ selections, based on current testing going on.  Of course, this is all subject to change at anytime and as the testing continues and we move closer to the general use of MyMagic+, I fully expect that things will still change.
