An Aulani Review – Continued

Editor’s Note:  Here is the continued blog from Tracy Ferguson from her recent stay at Aulani.  Thank you Tracy!

Day Two

Off to breakfast at 8am at Mahiki. We are greeted and seated immediately. Belinda from France is our excellent server.  She takes our drink orders and assures us it’s not Nescafe…phew.  By the way, there was decent Kona blend coffee in our room although I had stopped and picked up coffee just in case.  We are from Seattle, we have to have coffee.  It’s a religion here.  The breakfast buffet is quite good and there is lots to choose from.  Some things are a little saltier than I am used to but it doesn’t matter because you can go get something else as many times as you want.  The bacon was my favorite and all the fresh fruit.  They bring you a little piece of coconut pineapple cake as soon as you are seated and its really good. Way better than Ohana’s bread at the Polynesian Resort.  There are a few gnats and flies so if that is an issue for you, you may not enjoy the buffet or any of the dining for that matter. We heard several people quite put off by the bugs..I imagine they are worse later in the morning or when the winds die down.

An Aulani Review – Day One

Editor’s Note:  This series of blogs on Aulani are from a friend of ToaD’s, Tracy Ferguson.  Tracy has just returned from Aulani last week and has her perspective on the newest Disney Vacation Club resort. Thank you Tracy!

A little background…we are DVC members but stayed at Aulani on rented points.  We paid $805.00 for a 3 night stay, which as you know gave us 4 full days to enjoy the resort, Sunday through Wednesday.  We requested the cheapest studio available.  We got a Island Garden View (one step up) as that was all that was available.  At least that is what we were supposed to get BUT this is where it gets good…

Last week, Aulani, Disney Vacation Club’s newest property, opened on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.  With this addition, many people who never thought of going to Hawaii for a vacation are reconsidering their decision and including Aulani and other Hawaiian resorts in their future plans.

For select dates through the end of 2011, Disney Visa card holders can get a 25% discount on their room rate.  Contact us to help you with your Aulani vacation.

Where Do You Want to Cruise?

For those not familiar with cruising, you may think that cruises only go to the Caribbean or the Mexican Riviera.  Most probably realize that ships also go to Alaska and the Mediterranean.  But where else can you go on a cruise?  Just about anywhere!

The most popular cruising destinations are the Caribbean, Europe and Alaska.  But there are so many more places to cruise.  The Bahamas and Caribbean cover a wide area with the Bahamian islands down to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, to the Leeward Islands and Windward Islands and Netherlands Antilles to the east and South.  To the West there is Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Belize, Cayman Islands, Jamaica and even the Panama Canal.  Caribbean Cruises operate year-round, but fewer companies offer these sailing in the summer months.  Panama Canal sailings can be a half transit (roundtrip sailing) or a full transit (repositioning sailing).
