2015 Disney Cruise Line Itineraries

There is so much buzz about when the 2015 cruise itineraries for summer and fall 2015 will come out from Disney Cruise Line.  One agent was certain that they would come out “within 48 hours” a couple days ago, but nothing.  Personally, I think we could see the new itineraries as soon as mid-February, but possibly not until March or April.  So we wait, and speculate, and wait some more.

I thought now would be a good time to speculate!  I also want to hear what you think might be happening.  Here are my ideas with little basis for these thoughts.

  • Disney Dream – 3 and 4 night Bahamas sailings from Port Canaveral on Fridays and Mondays
  • Disney Fantasy – alternating 7 night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral with the addition of Tortola for an Eastern Caribbean port for at least some of the Eastern sailings
  • Disney Wonder – I predict that she will head over to Cadiz, Spain to undergo a major drydock like the Disney Magic did last year.  I think this will happen in May rather than after the season and the Wonder will then go up to the United Kingdom and then do Baltic sailings for the summer months.  Following the Baltic sailings, there may be some Mediterranean sailings and then a Transatlantic where she will go back to Port Canaveral, Miami or New Orleans.  Yes, New Orleans!!  If she goes to New Orleans, I’m hoping we will see some new Western Caribbean stops.
  • Disney Magic – I predict that she will go up to New York City again and have sailings to Canada to include a stop at Quebec City, maybe alternating sailings with Bermuda or the Bahamas and possibly a couple 2 night sailings again.  In the fall, I think she will return to Florida for Bahamas and Caribbean sailings.
  • Unfortunately, I’m predicting no Alaska sailings for the summer of 2015.

I know that the Disney Wonder showed up on the port calendar for a few days in Hawaii, but was removed.  I know a lot of you would like to see Hawaii again, and I hope I’m wrong for your sakes, but I can’t figure that one out into my prediction.

Of course, I could be totally wrong with these predictions, but hey, it’s fun to speculate!  What do you think DCL will do in 2015?  Where would you like to see them go?

Disney Wonder and Disney Magic Relocate for the Summer

Yesterday the Disney Wonder arrived in Seattle to begin its summer sailings to Alaska!  This is the first time Disney Wonder has home ported in Seattle.  Here is a compilation of the news reports from Seattle.

Disney Wonder will be making 14 seven-night sailings to Alaska from Seattle this summer with stops at Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Victoria, Canada.

Add a NYC Theater Tour and Show to your Disney Magic Cruise

A couple new signature shore excursions have been added to the list of Port Adventures for  Disney Magic® when she makes New York City her home port this summer.

  • The New Amsterdam Theatre Backstage Tour with The Lion King on Broadway (Pre & Post Cruise Only)
  • The New Amsterdam Theatre Backstage Tour with Mary Poppins on Broadway (Pre & Post Cruise Only)

Both of these tours start off at the New Amsterdam Theatre located just off Times Square.  Here you will have an exclusive tour of this New York City landmark.  This theater, along with the Lyceum Theatre, is the oldest Broadway venue in NYC.  For years, this theater was a movie theater from 1937 to 1985, after which the Walt Disney Corporation came in to lease the building and renovations were then done.  You will visit areas not open to the general public, including the props archive room and meet with the Disney Theatrical Group.

Following your tour, you will pick up tickets for either Mary Poppins (at New Amsterdam Theatre) or The Lion King (at Minskoff Theater).  Pricing ranges from $137 to $174 per person and lasts 4 to 4.5 hours.

Bookings for signature Port Adventures is a little different than most shore excursion.  A request form must be completed and then emailed to Disney for confirmation.  Full payment is required at the time of confirmation rather than once onboard.  Bookings will not be available onboard and must be requested at least 30 days prior to your cruise date.

Be A Part of It In New York City

I admit it, I am not a big city girl.  I prefer a small town to the glitz and glamor of the city.  I grew up in a small city of around 30,000 and going to the big city meant going to Madison, Wisconsin with 270,000 people.

I’ve traveled around the world, but had never been to New York City until this year.  In January I had an 11 hour layover and was lucky enough to have a driver from PCS Limousine to take me into Manhattan and give me a tour.  It was a snowy day and most of the time I was in a vehicle so while it was a good overview of the city, I can’t really say I experienced the city.

Disney Fantasy Christening – A Star Studded Event

Back in December, I received a call from my District Sales manager to tell me that I would be invite to the Christening of the Disney Fantasy.  I was overjoyed!  I had been to the Disney Dream’s Christening and it was an amazing experience.  This would be much different, though.  For the Disney Dream, we arrived a day prior, stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and had a private party at the Magic Kingdom.  The next day we attended the Christening Ceremony at Port Canaveral, outside of curse, and then embarked on a two-night cruise.

For the Fantasy though, this would be in New York City during a cruise from Germany to Port Canaveral.  We would not be cruising or have a party in the Magic Kingdom.

As we walked over to the party, we saw the ship in the distance.  It was amazing to see her docked in the Big Apple!
