Rotational Dining on the Disney Dream

Disney Cruise Line is once again offering rotational dining on the Disney Dream. This dining became popular on the classic ships, Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. With the Disney Dream, two new and one reinimagineered restaurant are now available.

Guests dine their first night in one of the three restaurants, indicated on their Key to the World card they receive at check in. The second night, they rotate to a different restaurant, all the while keeping their same table number, service staff and tablemates. The only change is the restaurant where they get to experience not only a new menu, but new surroundings and activities.

On our first night aboard the Disney Dream, we dined in Royal Palace. This restaurant is very elegant in design with rich marble flooring, portraits of princesses and beautiful appointments. During dinner several princesses strolled through the dining room to say hello. This was more of a quick stroll by than a “meet and greet” opportunity.

The next night we were in Animator’s Palate. This was a treat! We always enjoyed the “show” at Animator’s Palate on the Magic and Wonder, but the Dream’s show blows those two away! For those of you who have been to Turtle Talk with Crush, just imagine having Crush come to dinner with you. The technology behind this show is amazing. We checked out the different monitors on our last night and nothing was repeated as far as we could see. There was one screen that was exactly reverse from another one, but the “live” characters where swimming in the opposite direction.

Even the main walkway came to life.

The next night we were back in Animator’s Palate for Pirate night. This did not disappoint as well. Instead of the Finding Nemo crew, we now had Pirate graphics all around the room.

Finally we dined in Enchanted Garden. This was going to be my favorite restaurant based on the menu I had seen before the cruise. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The room is beautiful when you walk in and down the middle of the restaurant. We were, however, off to the side towards a corner and it was difficult to tell if the show was happening or not. I finally noticed the skyline on the other side of the restaurant had turned from dusk to night and we figured the show was over. The lights by us didn’t change in anyway. I don’t know if they were supposed to or if something was wrong, but it was disappointing. We ate breakfast in here once as well and were very cramped due to how close the tables were. We only ate here for dinner once due to our meal at Palo so unfortunately, I don’t have much to go on.

Ever wonder how they prepare food for this many people? In a future blog we’ll be showing you the galley for Royal Palace and Animator’s Palate.

Nice writeup! I see a familiar face in front of a mirror. Hmmm..
I agree with your assessments. The Animator’s Palate upgrades were suh-weet!! I’ve said before I think the AP “show” could be done twice during such a long dinner. The EG show was a letdown, but then we were doing our own little show. Ha!

  2. Actually, that is Amy in the mirror (similar haircut). Our show in Enchanted Garden was quite different, that’s for sure!
